A Word Released

A word released into the world
Can bring truth from clear to swirled
A word released when unaware
Sent flying without thought or care

A careless slip flung out
Where once was love now doubt
  Can become a terrible thing
And make your heart twist and wring

So always think before you speak
In your mind always seek
What you truly mean to say
It is always the best way

And when you fail and misspeak
Don't think it's made you bleak
Be quick to say you're sorry
An error is not time to be chary

When you are wrong seek forgiveness
To declare you are always right is witless
For no one is perfect, that is a given
Remember to forgive as you wish to be forgiven

Angels Weeping

Angels weeping in the night
People looking on in fright
Tears falling at the sight
In torn hearts does pain smite

In chairs sit with shoulders tight
In the book more do write
As tears fall on pages white
Then Gods prayers they all recite

In life she was so polite
Every day she had more height
Sparkling eyes were oh so bright
Every moment was true delight

For five years only did she excite
In her frame was mortal blight
Despite the soul of a sprite
But at last she lost the fight

In the morning was deaths invite
Yesterday her soul took flight
And then her soul gone from site
Now in her eyes is no light

As Father Dies

I look out of my front window pane
And this I can see so very plain
A picture of many colors I see
Out in the street, what can it be

Shiny white box, with big blue words
Next to the tree, watched by the birds
Blinking bright on top, crimson ablaze
Me standing at my window in a daze

Rushing and hushing and loud shouting
To the front door they all are crowding
A bed on wheels they rush into the house
Me by my window like a little mouse

Through the door they made such a clatter
I'm not sure what is the matter
Tears in her eyes mom stands and cries
To move from my window I know is unwise

A whirlwind they fly up the stairs
Brother and sister also in tears
I don't know why the sadness grows
Outside my window the cool wind blows

He was mean to me all the time
And I think for me he was sick slime
So I don't understand their teary eyes
I'm alone by my window as father dies

As She Wrought

She was dressed to the nines,
And looking so fine.
Searching each night
For the perfect sight.

She searched day after day,
Traveling every which way
For the one she sought,
The perfect one she thought.

Each night she went out,
But each she labeled lout.
Not the right one she sought,
Not perfect was her thought.

His hair was too long,
The clothes were all wrong.
His smile was not right,
He was a terrible sight.

Every night she looked
And to none was she hooked.
Never the one she sought,
None perfect she thought.

Day after day, year after year,
Never someone to call dear.
The time came and went,
Away each one was sent.

Then one day as she planned to shine
Again as always dressed to the nines.
In the mirror was gray hair and back bent
Life passed her by, all time was spent.

Her life all but gone
And no love was won.
Never the one she sought,
Perfectly alone as she wrought.

Blue Sees A Bee

I see a bee, I must catch the bee
Bee is bug, all bug are for me
Must get the bee, before it flee
I chase it here, as you can see
I chase it there before it's free

But Darla says no, no to bee
Bee is not bug, Blue let it be
Eat not the bee, let it be free
But get it I must, bug it be
Bee is bug, all bug are for me

No bee for Blue, no bee for you
Bee is not bug, Blue can't you see
Hurt you it will, if catch the bee
Leave the bee be, let bee be free
No bee for Blue, says Darla on knee

Buzz here buzz there, buzz buzz near tree
Bee is bug, it must not be free
Bug it is, all bug are for me
One snap of teeth, and no more free
Quick I am, quicker I must be

But Darla says no, no to bee
Darla knows best, knows bug from bee
I want bug fast, bee is a bug
But Darla say no, no bee for me
Darla knows best, bee will be free

Now time for belly rub
A belly rub for me

Blue Sees Another Bee

I see a bug, is it a bee
Darla has said no bee for me
It is a bug, a bug for Blue
But I was taught to listen to you

I want the bug, even it is bee
Bee is bug, all bug are for me
I see bee in bush, and bee in tree
Bee is bug, it must not be free

Darla can't see, she is not here
And bee sits in bush right over there
One snap of teeth, and no more free
Quick is bee, quicker I must be

Catch bee I must do, I'm quicker than you
Snap bee with teeth, now I must rue
Hurt me it did when I catch the bee
Should listen to Darla, bee must be free

Next day again I see a bee
Bee is bug, bug must be for me
But careful I am, you will see
Snap fast fast and faster at the bee

Snap fast fast and fast at bee in bush
Snap fast at bee, snap in a rush
Buzz goes the bee as I snap very fast
Falling to dirt goes the bee at last

Quick was the bee, but quicker was I
Bee lies on ground, not very sly
Bee doesn't flee snapped to pieces
Then swallow it I do, the bee ceases

Bee is bug, all bug are for me
Bee is bug, it must NOT be free

Boulder In a Stream

In the Big Apple I stand and see
I must be invisible like a tree
The flow of humanity wandering by
They're all in a rush I wonder why

I pose like a boulder in a stream
As they all pass around like a dream
They rush to go uptown or down
Stand here I feel about to drown

Hustle and bustle to their own clock
To no one else do they take stock
They only know where they will be
Their own problems are all they see

The market soars, reaches new highs
Their earnings grow high as the skies
Broadway, Times Square and all the sights
All the concerns are the night lights

The flow of life without a thought
Travels the world as they are taught
Ignorant of life except their needs
They see not when the real world bleeds

Commit

Seen under starlight
by dim moon light
he is a precious sight

Before me he is seen
my heart grows keen
but I am sixteen

Bright colors fade
but my mind is made
into danger I wade

Forever we commit
together we fit
for life he's been bit

I see him the next day
and he looks at me to say
together forever with you, no way

Diploma

So small a credential
Acquaintances converged
For me they are here
My accomplishments merged

Four years of labor
And many more before
The air filled with pomp
Sounds of circumstance flourish

Into the world I'm thrust
Expectations have grown
But chances are small
Success far away

The world is sad
The jobs are bad
No paychecks are had
I'm about to go mad

What will tomorrow bring
When I can't see today
And circles are my path
With no where to go

I am told I have grown
An adult I am now
My own way I must find
In a world of miry clay

No gold for my pocket
No silver for my table
The fish are not biting
Mom brings me my bread

Back to the want ad
Best work suit am clad
Employment my new fad
And life will be glad

Eleventh Flag

I parked the car between two white lines and looked out over the grassy field
For Memorial Day in memory of the brave hero's we planted eleven flags

Barely a hundred stones, some flat markers, some tall monuments
Our cemetery is small barely 10 years old

Three little children and mother, victims of a car crash
Brokenhearted husband and father left the country in tears

Husbands and wives, some alone waiting for their other half
Some side by side through eternity their love lasts

The deacons son, dead from drugs long before his time
Another young man drank his way into his hole

A hundred stories of cherished love and tears
In many years after I've grown old I will come here too

Sprouting here and there grew plastic flowers and solar candles
Some faded some fresh, all planted with loving care

Scattered among the stones are eleven marked by flags
They served their country, saving our home shores

The eleventh flag planted belongs to one I love
Grandpa's funeral had Taps and white gloves folding a flag
A war hero, husband and father, and I miss him still

First Caress

In purity, from my heart and soul I quest
After long thoughts, to myself confess
From deep in my being, love shall I assess
With my whole self to him shall I express
Shall two be one till one of us rest

His love, mind heart body and soul, to access
And all that is me for him to possess
Ceremony and dance, pure white wedding dress
Then before him I stand there and undress
Wearing what I was born with and no less

Clad with no more than God has blessed
As he moves, our proximity closely compress
He with gentle movement and I feel his caress
And I, till now my chary love, no more suppress
That is life, my very soul and heart, at it's best

Gentle Venus

Sitting on a chair of stone
Feeling regal on a throne
Really just a rocky slab
With sharp edge into me does stab

Sitting in my majestic chair
Without a worry or a care
On a hillside below the path
With sunlight for my bath

Washing life's cares away
Easing pains brought by day
Lush and green around my perch
Near my right looms mighty birch

Brightness arcing low in the sky
Through cloudless blue it does fly
Bathing light soothing and warm
And on the left tiny gnats do swarm

Nearby chirping is a melodious jay
My throne was bathed for hours today
Fevered granite comforting my back
Worries of the day my mind does lack

At my feet lays green valley wide
In the distance graceful birds glide
He told me today he loves me not
My heart now seems a great black knot

Sun lowers into the west afar
Behind in the east shines the first star
Fiery reds in front like warrior Mars
Behind gentle Venus washing the days scars

Brightness fades, new moon darkness
Sparkling uncountable in nights richness
Brightest of all rises gentle Venus
Of peace and love she is true genius

Sitting on my chair of stone
Feeling regal on a throne
Tomorrow life shall still go on
But in my heart will be no John

God's Kind Of Poetry.

I was peeking from my cave one day
And I saw a man coming this way
I've known for long his name is Moses
I heard it once as he gave his wife roses

As he walked in a daze I saw him staring
His steps never wavered in their bearing
I turned to see where he was looking
And I saw a bright bush that was cooking

As Moses got near I heared the bush call
A noise from a bush? I thought I would fall
'Take off your shoes' I heard it say
Off came my shoes and they flew away

Great words I heard from a burning bush
At the force of them I fell on my tush
'I Am that I Am' He named Himself
At that sound I became a frightened elf

What right have I, a simple small creature
To hear the words from such a great speaker
I was sure in a moment I would turn to dust
Or with pounding in my chest my heart would bust

But while the words I heard had great power
They flowed over me like the fragrance of a flower
They flowed like a cool spring calming me totally
And rang in my ears like some great poetry

I don't remember the commands that he gave with care
On Moses head shining white changed all his hair
But I was blessed as he calmed all my fears
To hear God's kind of poetry with my own ears

Golden Brew

Golden brew, every day I start with you
Golden brew, without you what would I do
Liquid gold, happy am I, with you no rue
Liquid life, strong am I, to myself am true

You lighten my day, you bring me cheer
And always do for those I hold dear
They need me now, I'll be right there
What do you mean it was yesterday dear

I'm always there
I'll bring good cheer
I'm reliable and care
But I'm not sure where

Other people come first
Once I quench my thirst
What ever you would durst
I never show my worst

I'll do every thing I can
If I can remember when
When you need me I'll be there then
Some even think I'm a comedian

I meant to do it
I'll get to it soon
I didn't mean to hurt you
Why do you cry

I don't have a problem
It's your fault, not mine
If you would all stop complaining
I'll be just fine

I Can Tell

I look into your eyes
and I can tell
by the sparkle
by the little creases on the sides

Are you happy
Are you mad
Are you sad
Are you in love with me

What's in your heart
What's in your mind
What's in your soul
What is the truth inside of you

I touch your lips
and yours touch mine
and I can tell
the passion that you feel for me

What moves you
What fills you
What brings you joy
And you and I become a we

I feel the touch of your hands
and the current runs up my spine
and I can tell
there is no place I would rather be

But it is in your eyes
that I can truly tell
all that you feel
for all that is me

Eyes are the windows
to the deepest part
Your eyes hide no secrets
Through them I see that you are mine

I Saw Him

I saw him walking down the hall
And he walked right into my heart

He called me on the cell phone
His strong voice filled my mind

He took me out to dimlit dinner
His aromas floated me to heaven

He reached and touched my hand
Tingles spread and seared my soul

He kissed me with warm lips
His taste enveloped my world

He offered me a golden ring
His life and mine are now one

Last Trip

I was a full day dead and quite content
My last word and testament has been sent
I lay in my coffin as they passed me by
They walked past in silence, never asking Why?

My heart was light in my quiet repose
In the air was the fragrance of white rose
Tears glistened on cheeks in candle light
But they all knew that my rest was right

Long years were past and everything done
I've spent many days under the sun
I wanted to go, no reason to stay
I just needed time to find the way

Children and grand children and great ones too
Family left behind totaled quite a few
Friends from my youth have already left
Those still here are have a younger zest

My soul is at rest like a cool summer day
The last heat of life has gone away
Passion's twilight has come to rest
Like a mountain spring washing my breast

It is time to go with no regret
I leave behind not a single debt
It's been a full day since my last breath
Now for my last trip to the land of death

They carry my coffin to my earthly home
And sprinkle on my lid rich dark loam
No child in slumber could be more content
Quite content that my life was well spent

Life's Flower

Ah, pretty flower what promises you bring
I'm a women now, it's time to sing
All ways for an adult are now open to me
There can be nothing better you must agree

Monthly discomfort is small price to pay
For a beautiful baby someday I pray
Life is so good, Life is so great
Wonderful is a woman's monthly fate

Month after month is the eternal cost
Or the human race would soon be lost
Life goes on monthly, year after year
Family grows with children I lovingly rear

I'm doing fine but I'll skip swimming today
I need to go shopping, I'll find a way
It always comes when it's least convenient
Without fear of leakage I could make an achievement

At the worst time there is no cessation
Time to cancel that planned vacation
And the price I pay goes on and on
Monthly I wish this price be gone

When life's pretty flower becomes a flood
Life threatening becomes the hemorrhaging blood
Life's flower is no more for loving gestation
Time for an outpatient endometrial ablation

Life's Prayer

Come walk through my house O Heavenly Father
Take all life's cares and make them no bother
Look in each room and see my crosses
All those burdens that bring life's looses

I would never ask you to lessen my burden
I know life is not always a tea garden
But take all my cares and worries with you
So all my tasks are things I can do

All I ask is the strength and calmness
And bring into my life your loves brightness
And hold back from my heart sorrow and sadness
Please help me to keep back life's weary madness

Help me become all I must be
So I can look around and help me see
And help me bear all I must do
Because every thing I am is given to you

Little Green Soldiers

Tiny little soldiers pose far as a sea
Bright green they all are waiting for me
Week after week they keep on growing
Leaning this way and that as wind is blowing

They never stop growing, they don't know how
But given a chance they can feed a cow
They seem to never be slowing
So week after week I keep mowing

Pushing first one way then turning around
The engine relentless in it's rumbling sound
But it must get done so I best keep going
It must all be done so there is no slowing

Sun beating down and I commence to frown
In my own sweat I'm sure I will drown
From the tree overhead birds are crowing
Then I think back to when it was snowing

Winter was cold, long and hard
Snow as high as my eyes filled the yard
So to the grass I say keep on growing
Better then buried in snow I'm certainly knowing

Mother's Wish

If one wish only you give free
Best of all a mother be

To bring a new life you see
Is most precious that can be

New life dear that comes to be
From love cherished given to thee

All the water in the sea
Can not equal God's gift free

Mother's love in first degree
Mother best is what I see

Is treasured boy life's first key
Or a lovely girl busy as a bee

A Mothers wish is in my heart
In nine months a new life start

My White Room

Bleep, bleep, with eyes closed I can hear
Bleep, bleep, I open my eyes and stare
Last I remember was my own room in cheer
And now a white room all around I fear

I had a cough, a stuffy nose too
But very sick I had not a clue
Now as I look with sight too clear
I'm in a white room and full of fear

It's happened before, I'd be feeling blue
Just a little cold or touch of the flu
Then next I know germs kick in high gear
In a white room seems like a full year

Each time it's happened it's always the same
By now you would think I would know the game
I've tried to live life with smile and cheer
But I hate the white room, I hate it here

It's all pings, whorls and bleeps
Hour after hour it gives me the creeps
There is no one here to call me dear
Alone in my white room, that's certainly clear

Wish the bright lights could please be dimmed
Haven't seen mom, she's lost in the wind
I'm sad and scared, will no one appear
In my white room while dad has a beer

So alone I feel while nurses smile
Afraid and deserted, I must be vile
My heart feels like a big big bloody smear
Alone in my white room with no love to hear

No Where To Go

There are no roads, no where to go
i sit in silence, mind set on slow

No reason to move, there's nothing to do
much to get done, but life is all poo

Light is a rumor, i remember it once
darkness is now, i care not an ounce

Times that were good, behind a closed door
where is that key, lost there on the floor

Shrouded in darkness, cloth rough and coarse
pressure crushed heart, life never been worse

Like edge of knife, my life do shed
no want of life, do find me dead

No rainbow for me, remembrance not
nothing is left, what have i got

Who will miss me, can't think of one
once i am gone, all will be done

Saving a Dragon

Walking down the lane was I and a dragon I did see
Slowly I turned and through the forest about to flee
'Hidee Hoo' I heard him say in a voice so very deep
Soothing rumble of that great voice almost made me sleep

'Where be ye going young lass' his voice did roll
Surprised I replied 'Through the forest for a stroll'
'Come here a bit closer, see you clearly I must'
Shaking in my slippers, afraid of the dragon to trust

'I can see from here your scrawny bones and hide
Barely a mouthful you would be, even if you be fried
Closer you can come safe from my devouring
So be brave and stop your pitiful cowering'

So persuasive was he, my feet moved of their own accord
Unable to stop or think, not a thought for my sword
'Oh mighty dragon why so close must I come'
'To see into your head to make sure you not be dumb

For a task of great importance I need you to complete
For which, if you complete, I will grant a great treat'
'What great mission would your great eminence need
I would gratefully avail as long as it not make me bleed'

'My rear leg I have trouble to reach, it is where the task lay'
And leaning to one side lifts the leg while his bulk does sway
Off balance he teeters, it's amazing he hasn't fell
Brings his foot to my face and sure it does smell

'Look close and be quick and the task you should clearly see'
Looking close between two toes was faint buzzing wings of a bee
'All of me is armored strong' declares the dragon in strained voice
'Except one small place I would never reveal had I a choice

Between my toes is skin so soft, and there I hurt
Residing there giving constant pain is this tiny squirt
If you can succeed in it's prompt removal
I will grant you a great boon with full approval'

Closely I peered at his tiny calamity
Wondered at this massive creatures agony
For so tiny and scrunched is his great nemesis
Nestled so tightly in such a tiny crevice

Delicately I reach in with two slim fingers
And cautiously pinch while avoiding the stinger
Warily I grasp the great diminutive beast
Pulling gently then opening fingers it is released

With excited buzzing spinning quickly in the air
Hovering above my eyes with great care
The bee hums its gratitude at it's release
Stuck between toes it thought to soon decease

So twin beasts both great and small
Full of praises to me the two call
And rewards offered, promised and earned
For doing a good deed that I performed

Honey more than in a lifetime I could eat
And treasured dragons gold in a pile so neat
As I continue through the forest for a stroll
Hoping as I cross the bridge I find no troll

Secreta Secretorum

Can I tell you
I don't think so
It's a secret
You must go

If I tell you
He will know
It is evil
You must go

Ask not again
It must be so
If I tell you
Death will grow

If I tell you
He will see
He has many eyes
So you must go

From earliest time
Only I can know
I must not tell
Or death will grow

It's the maximus secretum
The Secreta Secretorum
The secret of secrets
And I must not tell

Before the Earth
Before the Sun
It was a secret
It's older than time

Hinted to Greeks
When already old
But hidden again
As souls turned cold

Whispered again
In the Middle Ages
But dangers grew
So I closed the pages

It is shrouded in mist
And veiled by darkness
Hidden from wisdom
And shrewdly cloaked

For if you knew
It would torment
Now and forevermore
Then You mustn't tell

So save yourself
You must go
For your own peace
I can not tell

Shadows in the Dark

The night was dark, house dreary true
I opened the gate and crept through
Shadows of specters fill my sight
In fear of monsters that may bite

With moon bright and dim star light
To my right is a great fright
Dim light makes phantoms dance and sway
To my left shall I run away

Step by step I slowly walked
Pray and hope door is unlocked
A fear in my heart I accept
Into the darkness I have crept

Goblins and ghosts I conjure
My safety I must ponder
Step by step I further walk
Mouth dry like dust I'll never talk

Is my fear up in a tree
To look up as I may see
Under which I think to stroll
About to pounce, is there a troll

Or the crack upon next I tread
Or carnivorous vines that I dread
Will it cause mothers back to break
Or a quick snack of me they make

Stairs that creek under my feet
In my chest pounding heart beat
Echoing loudly in my ears
Trembling eyes swelling with tears

On the porch quaking I look around
New fears in my heart I have found
Shadows dance in candle lit window
Four arms and horns to scare a hero

Again I creep upon the stairs
Upon my neck stand straight my hairs
Flickering porch light starts to sway
My feet have turned to miry clay

While ready to run I ring the bell
In fear more than words can tell
Feet planted firm I try to stay
The door creeks and I can't look away

Wide opened the door is the sign
Time now to speak the important line
Hoping for something chocolate or sweet
Brave and tall, I say Trick-or-Treat

The Kings Fool

Cold Nice Hot Cool
Four seasons for the fool
Words of nonsense are his tool
Spilling from his mouth like drool

Winter Spring Summer Fall
Stories come great and small
From memory strong total recall
Hidden secrets are flung at them all

None worry what he speaks
Till aimed at them fling his cheeks
Concealed in dribble come his tweaks
To stab their honor his phrases seek

Buried deep and solid truth
Fool has found them through sleuth
Revealing to those with ears in sooth
Things they have done since their youth

Things that they in secret kept
Truth is revealed to the adept
Out from under rug they are swept
Errors to be denied or must they accept

The Monster Beneath the Bed

What is that you're seeing
in the corner of your eye
Stealthful foot steps following
never passing by

In the corner of the mirror
watching when you blink
It is patient and silent
and deadlier than you think

It's bidding time for years
until the time is ripe
Until you've grown enough
and are just the right type

When you have grown enough
to be a tasty morsel
From beneath the bed it comes
through a secret portal

In silence it is waiting
needing to be fed
Out in darkness slithering
from beneath your bed

In your sleep it comes
needing to be fed
Nibbling a tasty morsel

The Spider (2014)

Spinning, spinning
The trap is winning
Around and around
The plan is sound

Send in weapons here
Sneak in soldiers there
And when they notice, lie
Wars first casualty, deny

Behind the scenes
Pulling the strings
Watch the world dance
Web of deceit advance

A plane in the sky
Swat it like a fly
The innocents die
Your guilt deny

The spiders plans done
Down it's stings they run
More bombs and guns
The death of more sons

First one area then another
In the clutches of war's mother
How many will fall
To the spiders call

Will war turn cold
With rulers so bold
Or does it get hot
With spiders next swat

It took one shot
To make war hot
Millions found gore
In the Great War

Will peace fall
At spiders call
Strings he can pull
Eyes covered by wool

At spiders next sting
Will world war ring
Watch the world dance
Web of deceit advance

Tiny Earth

I sat upon an elephant in the middle of my room
I reached up through the ceiling and held onto the moon

Past the rings of Saturn I reached for out a star
From this lofty perch I could see so true and far

I floated through the cosmos along the milky way
Eternal time passed from creation until today

The weight of human history both evil and most kind
As songs and stories came to rest uneasy upon my mind

As I walked among the stars and looked upon the world
The oceans were tiny tears, fluffy white veils swirled

I heard the laughs and tears, and sad and wishful dreams
Tragedy and joys uncounted through many lives it seems

The echos of every life shall never ever halt
They travel amongst stars across the celestial vault

Tiny as ants on Earth around they rushed ahead
Hustling to meet the press of humanity's dread

Cars rushing here and there, jam-packed traffic messed
To get home to family safe they feel truly blessed

Looking down on the singers I hear Earths heart beats
Tiny lovers and ardent poets dancing through the streets

Half the world in terror and fear of armed bands
Thousands born and soon die daily throughout the lands

So many who trudge each day without life's due liberty
Uncounted widows and orphans hungry in crying anonymity

Parents with wee children that grow a bit each day
Worry that soon may be the end of their merry play

Young adults nearing challenges in life's unending race
Soon are burnt like rats swarming at much to great a pace

Life is full of mystery from the date of each ones birth
In pain and joy another day on tortured planet Earth

How I wish to linger here traveling amongst the stars
And avoid forever the stress that comes with life's scars

Wishing to extend this trek through the starry span
But to tiny Earth I must go and live what life I can

Traffic

Beep beep, move your car
Out of my way, I'm the star
I'll cut you off to get a head
You drive like you're still in bed

Out of my way, this is my road
Move it you big fat sluggish toad
Off the road, stink up your own street
Get lost or your head I will beat

I'll fly over a lane without a blinker
When you see me coming, move you stinker
But if you try to cut in front of me
I'll cut you off and force you to flee

My toons I will blast so all can hear
My horn I will blare if at all you dare
Get in my way and you'll feel my wrath
With my hot coffee I'll give you a bath

And when the police bring me to a halt
I will prove that it all was your fault
It could not possibly be my road rage
As the court reads my name off a page

UR

You are
my sun, my moon, my stars

You are
the brightness that warms my heart every day

You are
the soft glow that fills my soul

You are
the uncountable points of light that
make my every moment wonderful

You are
my love, my everything

War

Sun shines, fire glows
Death rains, arrows of fire in modern bows

Missiles and rockets, bombs dropped from on high
Another death does war's wealth buy

Precision death or random destruction
Nothing is safe from wars instruction

War, War, what is it good for
Death and desolation around the globe tour

Children's eyes, in sadness dies
The world's powers sharing their lies

Peace, Peace, there is no peace
Will never the violence cease

Life lost, young innocents and old
How can the perpetrators be so bold

Life becomes death in the world's hate
Until all is done we pray and wait

They cry peace peace, but there is no peace
War and greed and hate will not cease

The great Deceiver, the great father of lies
Behind all great leaders you can see his eyes

Like old stories, The Lord of the Flies
Death Be not Proud but still he dies

Only winters cold, only summers heat
War never leaves spring in the soul or heart beat

In fear I sit, in anger I tremble
Without strength to stop it I grumble

War, War, what is it good for
What can I do for this great human sore

War, War, what is it good for
Nothing is still worth more

Where Did I Put It!

I had a great love but where did I put it!
Found the right guy but it took a big hit
I was told I had to move four states away
I was too young so I couldn't stay

I thought he had it, I could see it in him
That was my old boyfriend, his name was Jim
But I had to say bye, I had to go
Just when my love was starting to grow

He was moving north, to a college dorm
I had to move south, my heart in a storm
Ten hours by car for a young heart to yearn
I knew such a distance was a big concern

He had his new life, I had to say bye
He didn't agree and he asked me Why?
We talked and talked, there was nothing to do
I had cried for two days as I thought it through

A long distance love would never survive
How could we keep teenage love alive
He would have new friends, half of them girls
In his eyes would they become beautiful pearls?

I had to go, I had no choice
So I said good bye with quivering voice
I had a great love but where did I put it!
In someone nice but I still had to quit

Now three years later where did I put it!
Into my sun, moon and stars is where it fits
He is my friend, love and husband, my Bob
It's how life worked to find it, my heart throb

Where Do Stories Come From

One day, after reading her son a bed time story,
the bright little boy asked,
'Mommy, where do stories come from?'

So the mommy explained to the young reader.
In the beginning there was a word.
The word was formed from the letters of the universe
and it's imagination. And the word was good.

And the word gathered other letters from the universe to form more words.
The words organized them selves into thoughts and phrases.
The phrases organized themselves into paragraphs.
The paragraphs became a story.

The story was good, but it was lonely.
So it gave some of it's words to the universe,
and those words gathered more letters.
It too grew from the imagination of the universe and became a story.

It also was a good story, but very different from the first story.
Together, these two stories combined some of their
letters and words and phrases,
and together they made more stories.

And many of those stories were good,
like the first two stories,
but different in many ways.

Some of the stories were mysterious, some were adventurous,
and some were simply fantastic and magical.
Many were filled with love, some contained bits of lust and greed,
and some were even tinged with hate.

From small mice to great men, the stories were filled
with every character imaginable, and many beyond imagination.
Some talked about what was, and some about what was to be,
and some even about what could never be.

The universe saw the stories and said to them, be fruitful and multiply.
Fill the whole universe with more of your stories.
And they did.
Stories of every shape and form spread across all the universe.

Some stories were very long, and some were very short.
Most stories were very good, but some were also very bad.
Over time, from the before the Iliad to long past the end of the Odyssey,
the stories filled the universe.

They were found lining the shelves of every library and book store.
Shelves and desks in many homes and schools and workplaces
were pleased to be covered with the stories.
And the stories delighted in the reading and re-reading.

They relished the laughter, the joy,
and even the tears they spread across the universe.
And life for all was blessed with their presence.

Why Do Turtles Cross The Road?

Why do turtles cross the road
Can an answer ever be found
So I sat upon a tuft of grass
Between a road of dirt and a pond

I sat and sat for hours and hours
Waiting for a turtle to appear
Then out of the pond one did come
Speeding up the bank he ran

I watched and watched as he did run
A full point two miles a day
Between the pond and road he dashed
I knew he soon would cross

After an hour he finally arrived
And stopped to look around
Unsure that he was safe and sound
He stopped and shook his head

Afraid to cross a wide open space
He avoided stepping off the grass
Then rushed along the edge of the road
A full point two miles a day

He traveled a while on his way
Then his day grew suddenly gray
Looking up he saw a frightful sight
A gray mountain coming his way

So rashly he rushed across the road
Away from the elephants crushing path
He put on great speed as he rushed along
A full point three miles a day

He just barely attained the other side
As the gray mountain passed him by
As I watched I was sure I now knew
'Why do turtles cross the road?'

So as you walk and happen to see
A turtle crossing the road
Look both ways and stand carefully back
Or an elephant will crush you fast
